The newly appointed head of National Public Radio ("NPR") in the United States has been in the news for issuing statements that while startling on the face, are de rigueur for Leftist ideologists.

Katherine Maher assumed her recent position as head of NPR in January of this year.

Conservative activist Christopher Rufo recently brought a number of her policy positions to light. In addition to inveighing against "white male Westernized constructs" in her role as former CEO of Wikipedia, she also promoted suppression of information:

As CEO of Wikipedia, she “took a very active approach to disinformation,” coordinated censorship “through conversations with government,” and suppressed content related to the pandemic and the 2020 election.

Elsewhere the efforts of the Brazilian government to censor content on X has come to parliamentary notice in the United States:

Since his public commitment to free speech, Elon Musk has faced criticism and attacks from governments around the world, including the United States. In Brazil, censorship of the opposing political party and investigative journalists occurs via court order. Under the Biden Administration, censorship demands are delivered in closed-door meetings with implicit regulatory threats, on top of lawfare for political opponents.

In Germany, a member of a regional parliament recently appeared in court on charges of using banned words.

‍Björn Höcke, head of Alternative Für Deutschland ("AfD") for Thuringia, is being prosecuted for publicly advocating "everything for Germany".

As Reuters notes, the AfD is rising in influence:

The trial takes place at a time when the AfD, second in national polls behind the opposition conservatives, is under scrutiny over reports that some senior party figures had discussed the deportation of people with non-ethnic German backgrounds.

In Brussels, Belgium a conservative conference featuring elected international leaders on the Right was interrupted and forcibly shut down by law enforcement:

Belgian police on Tuesday shut down an annual conference featuring high-profile, hard-right nationalist speakers, including Hungary's prime minister and Brexit champion Nigel Farage, in what many viewed as the latest attack on free speech in Europe.

Emir Kir, the mayor of the Brussels municipality of Saint-Josse-ten-Noode, ordered police to close down the National Conservatism Conference citing concerns over public disorder. Police entered the venue hall where the meeting was taking place and shut it down.

“Among these personalities there are several particularly from the right-conservative, religious right and European extreme right,” Kir said in statements. “The far right is not welcome.”

The monstrous silence that results from imprisonment over words has fatal consequences for nations.

It is not difficult to observe the confluence of militant trends on the ground.

Recent polling demonstrates that in the United States, 63% of surveyed college students find it acceptable to shout down a speaker to prevent them from speaking on campus.

On the other side of the ideological spectrum the town of Holt, Michigan recently passed an official resolution forming an armed militia.

It's purpose is to protect Constitutional rights, including by formal defiance of State and Federal authority:

3.0 Holton Township will not acknowledge any new laws that are associated with red flag laws, or any other infringement of the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution. Holton Township will not acknowledge any new regulation that prohibits open carry or concealed carry.

One should expect this radicalization of political opposition and weaponized use of the law to increase and accelerate polarization.

Fighting age males in the West are now focused on training for impending conflict.
